Our Mission
Our Mission

PHILOSOPHY, STRATEGY, PROGRAM COVERAGE AND SCOPE
The general mission of the Young Adult Guidance Center, Inc. is “to provide high quality services to teen and young adult males and their families through prevention, intervention and community collaboration which will enhance the quality of life for Atlanta’s citizens’. The Young Adult Guidance Center, Inc. focuses on the stabilization and development of young men 6 to 24 years of age.
Our preservation effort is approached holistically serving high risk and in-crisis adolescents. The agency meets and responds to the expressed needs of our community youth and strengthens the individuals’ social and psychological functioning.
The Young Adult Guidance Center, Inc. provides a continuum of quality services to disadvantaged youth in the state of Georgia and within the United States of America. We organized to serve the displaced runaway, troubled homeless and truant youth. Services include the nurturing and fostering of youth, independent living, skills training, prevention and outreach, early family intervention, individual, group and family counseling. The housing programs consist of short-term emergency shelter, transitional lodging, and long-term affordable and permanent housing for the disabled.
It is our opinion that if the youth is armed with a healthy mind and body, combined with discipline, self respect, and a return of self-esteem, the youth and young adult male will re-enter society no longer carrying negative, excess baggage, but an optimistic, positive view of his life and future. Yes, he must have a plan; he must have a strategy to build manhood in order to strengthen the family.
OUTREACH PROGRAMS
The Young Adult Guidance Center, Inc. provides a year-round after-school, adolescent risk prevention program called the “In-Tune Project”. The project is available for local youths age 7 through 16, providing a comprehensive environment for them to learn and grow.
