EMERGENCY SHELTER

This housing resource serve as a large part of our special housing four major areas. In 2006 the agency served a total of 153 youth needing temporary emergency shelter service.

Several youth came to us neglected and abused and was referred for addition support to the state Department of Family and Children Service. It is important to YAGC staff to complete case assessments on these youth within a 14 day period of lodging. Identifying a social summary, establishing long term and short term goals, probing consumers circumstance are all essential to good case management practice. This stage of housing is considered as an observation period. Staff will seek to get consumer enroll in school or GED program, seek and obtain employment for older youth, and agency can serve state custody, runaways and homeless males ages 13- 21 years of age.
