AFTER-SCHOOL AND
WEEKEND PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
(LOCAL COMMUNITY YOUTH
& FAMILY)
The After School and
Weekend Program is a combination of community
holistic services offered to youth in the community,
where the center is located. Youth will be served
from the Bankhead Court, Bowen Homes, Hollywood
Court and the direct Carrie Park community areas.
The After school life skills workshops intervention
and weekend incentive activities are our efforts to
convert youth from negative community influence to
positive growth and development. YAGC, Inc. staff
conducts weekly workshops, individual, family and
group intervention during the four day week period
from Mondays thru Thursdays. Youth will be picked
up after school at their homes and transported to
the center on a scheduled rotation. All groups will
consist of no more that 10 youth at a time. On a
daily basis from Monday though Thursday two of the
community outreach youth participants will receive
individual counseling. Since major emphasis will be
placed on family unity each month two family
counseling sessions will be plan for implementation.
On Friday and every other Saturday the staff will
reward youth participants with incentive
activities. Activities such as movies, plays,
sports game are all ways in which the staff will
enhance the participation of community youth ages
6-16 years of age.
IN-TUNE TO LIFE SKILL PREVENTION WORKSHOPS
All workshops
last one hour and consist of topics ranging from
Home economics, personal hygiene, developing
personal budgets, job interviewing techniques, crime
prevention, early childhood pregnancy prevention
just to name a few of the many workshops scheduled
