PERMANENT HOUSING
These
populations of youth are housed on a permanent basis
and lodging days are not limited because of the
status of the youth having no other support system
in place for alternative housing. Youth come with
minor mental health issues and enrolled with SSI
assistance or need assistance to obtain SSI
benefits. The agency assesses the need to support
this population to prevent chronic homelessness with
male’s ages17-21 years of age. This population had
been residing with parents or relative and because
of mental health and conflict issues found them
displaced in need of a continued care after disputes
with relatives. Most come with psychological
problems and medication is dispensing on a daily
basis by staff. In 2006 the agency served a total of
65 males at the 1212 Hightower unit and most
continue to obtain support after exiting the program
during a four to six month period.
